About the evening primrose

The evening primrose (Oenothera) belongs to the evening primrose family (Onagraceae). It grows primarily on the North and South American continents. It gets its name from its bright yellow flowers, which only fully open at dusk. The valuable evening primrose oil is extracted from its seeds and is composed of the  polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acids linoleic acid (between 70 and 80 percent), gamma-linolenic acid,  and other unsaturated fatty acids. Evening primrose oil also contains various amino acids, minerals, and vitamin E. The polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid cannot be produced by the body and must therefore be obtained through food.  Linolenic acids are an important component of the skin  and can help strengthen its barrier function or reduce moisture loss.

• Each container contains 320 high-dose softgel capsules, each containing 1000 mg of cold-pressed evening primrose oil. When taken two capsules daily, the container is sufficient for a full 160 days of use.

Our evening primrose oil capsules are particularly  high-dose, with 2000 mg per daily serving  (daily serving = 2 capsules). Each capsule contains  1000 mg of cold-pressed evening primrose oil with 10% gamma-linolenic acid.  The GLA content is therefore 200 mg in a daily serving of 2 capsules. Our capsules also contain  natural vitamin E.  Vitamin E is considered a powerful antioxidant and protects the sensitive components of the evening primrose from oxidation, increasing the bioavailability of the individual ingredients.
