Other Symptoms

Candida and weight gain

One of the symptoms of untreated systemic Candida is weight gain, or difficulty losing weight. It can cause the kind of stubborn fat deposits that are hard to shake off, no matter how little you eat or how much exercise you do. There are a couple of reasons for this, but first it’s important to understand that no diet is going to help. Treating the underlying cause of the problem – the Candida overgrowth – is the way to get back in shape. Candida can lead to excess fat deposits in a severel ways:

Sugar cravings: Candida needs sugar to grow and reproduce, sugar that comes from the foods we eat. A typical symptom of a Candida infestation is that the patient is eating lots of sugar and carbs but still craving more. In Candida sufferers, this is far more than just a psychological addiction to sugar. The Candida yeast is processing large amounts of sugar and sending your blood sugar levels lower, triggering signals from your brain that you need to eat more. This is one way that Candida can cause overeating.

Stress in your immune system: The toxic byproducts of Candida can trigger a response from your immune system. Stress on the adrenal glands raises cortisol levels (an emergency response which promps your body to hold on to every last piece of fat that it can.)

Fatigue: Because of the fatigue you experience as Candida patient and because of the emotional effects (like brain fog and depression), Candida sufferers often find it hard to get the exercise that they need to stay healthy and in shape.

Often a simple calorie restriction diet is treating the symptom rather than the cause of the problem. Diet advice is everywhere on the internet, but rarely do you see a treatment plan that can treat the underlying condition that is causing the weight gain. By following a good Candida treatment plan and sticking to a healthy diet, you might find it easier than you think to shake off those stubborn fat deposits. Virtually all Candidapatients lose weight when they are on the Candidadiet.

Candida and the immune system

A systemic Candidainfection has a major impact on your immunesysteme. The weakening of the immune system as a result of the Candida infectionen and will open the door to a variety of other diseases. If you still also are affected by the underlying disease/cause that initially caused the systemic Candidainfection, the situation can be particularly serious and some times even lethal.

The many diseases that follows the Candida infection and the immune weakening include frequent influenzas, food allergies, dust-/pollenallergy, allergy to fragrances, psoriasis, warts, herpes, lunginfections, bacterial infections, eye and ear infections, other types of fungal infections in the skin and hair, athlete's foot etc. They are typical symptoms in diseasestage 3 (see diseasestage section) of a systemic Candida infection.
When starting on the Candidadiet and the Candida lifestyle these changes will in itself boost your immune system as a result of the high content of essential nutrients in the diet and less stress on the body. At the same time the Candidadiet with its low sugar content in combination with Candidakilling products will make the fungus withdraw. The hard pressure of the Candidafungus on the immune system will slowly loosen. The result will be that many of the complications from the immune weakening will disappear. Also some of the allergies will disappear. In the diseasestage 2, many of the complications will be gone. However, several of them will quickly emerge again if you experience a relapse, due to stress or eating forbidden foods. Then you may very well experience herpes or inflammation of the eyes again until you have the disease under control again. Therefore it is very important constantly and consistently to follow the Candidadiet and lifestyle until you feel significantly better. The alternative is not an option.

Candida and gut funktion

Getting a good bowel function is an important element in getting better. Many patients with untreated systemic fungal infection has thin, pale, smelly stools, because the gastrointestinal tract is covered by a thick layer of fungi and thus inefficient. The uptake of essential nutrients is compromised significantly and poorly digested food passes through the intestine. The result is light, smelly, loose stools often containing more or less undigested food particles. When the Candida starts to withdraw in the gastrointestinal tract due to the low-sugar Candidadiet, you will also see a change in your stools. In addition, the Candidadiet is extremely rich in fiber and other useful substances for optimal bowel function and a growth in the population of the useful intestinal bacteria will happen. The result is a firmer and darker stool without undigested food particles and with significantly improved absorption of vital nutrients from the food. This will naturally strengthen your immune system and strengthen you in your fight against the Candidainfection. Be always aware of how your stools look and smell, and that the food you consume is of a high quality and with high digestibility. Fortunately, we on candidapatient.com can provide you with a fine selection of food of high quality, that will support your heling process.

Candida and neurology

A systemic Candida infection can have a major impact on your brain and on your nervous system. This is mainly due to various substances, formed by the growth/death cyclus of the fungus, that can inhibit the formation of substances that are essential for a balanced nervous system. For example, the Candida can contribute to the formation of aldehydes, which can inhibit the formation of the substance acetylcholine, which is important in brain cell metabolism. There are also a number of other symptoms that are contributed to the negative mood many patients experience. The symptoms are carbohydrate cravings, irritability, mood swings, headaches, migraines, "fogged-in" feeling, inability to concentrate/mind "wanders off", poor memory, confusion, dizziness, M.S.-like symptoms (slurred speech, loss of muscle co-ordination, vision affected), depression and/or anxiety without apparent cause, paranoia without apparent cause, not in total control of ones actions (know right thing to do but unable to execute), mental incompetence (sometimes leading to institutionalization), a variety of other behavioral disturbances. Some patients experience very unpleasant, abstinencelike symptoms with a weak, constant tingling inside. In addition, the big majority of patients will be mentally affected by the massive fatigue that the disease causes, especially around Die-Off periods. The massive fatigue will make you feel like you lack energy, low self-esteem, depression, desire to isolate yourself and it makes you perform worse mentally. One of the social characteristics of patients with systemic Candida is not surprisingly that they may often have lost their jobs. The reason is that their performance and mentally state is very volatile because of the effects (sickness, fatigue, mood etc) from the disease. Most patients will also be affected by the fact that they often stand alone with their illness and basically can not get help from the established medical system. Very few doctors are able to diagnose the disease and the vast majority of patients with systemic fungal infections will find that they are rejected by their doctors. Do not get surprised if your doctor instead refer you to a psychologist or makes a prescription for anti-depressants to you.
