Psyllium Husks
The seed husks of the plantain species Plantago indica (Plantago Psyllium) are known as psyllium husks. They are considered a "superfood" and are a 100% pure and vegan natural product without additives. The fruit itself ripens into a two-chambered capsule with two small, elliptical, shiny seeds each, which look very similar to fleas, which is why the plant is also called "flea herb" or "psyllium plantain". Due to the ideal climatic conditions, its main cultivation area is in India, Pakistan, Iran and the Arab world.
Psyllium husks are particularly characterized by their high plant-based fiber content, the so-called psyllium mucilage polysaccharides . These are able to bind more than 50 times their own weight in water and have a swelling number of > 40!

Versatile!
Due to their fiber content and swelling capacity, psyllium husks are very versatile and a very popular support in a wide variety of areas.
1. Due to their enormous swelling power, they are able to fill the stomach quickly and induce a feeling of satiety that can last for several hours. For this reason, they are often used as an accompaniment to a diet.
2. In addition to fiber, psyllium husks also contain a high proportion of mucilage, which can positively support digestion and intestinal activity.
3. Gluten-free baking can also be made possible with psyllium husks. Pasta usually relies on gluten; if gluten is missing, another binding agent must be used. Psyllium husks are particularly suitable for this as they have an enormous binding ability.
