Description

Various nutritional trends today point out that it makes sense to ensure a sufficiently high intake of proteins and to reduce carbohydrates. Whey Protein Organic from Vitals fits perfectly with these recommendations. As well as sports nutrition plans. It contains high-quality protein from organic cow's milk and can be used as a daily dietary supplement.

What is whey protein?
Whey is obtained from milk. It is formed during the manufacture of cheese after rennet has been added to the milk. Rennet is an enzyme complex that makes milk firmer. This so-called "curd" is then used as the basis for cheese production. The liquid left over from the original milk is called "whey."

Whey is naturally rich in absorbable proteins and is a good source of calcium. It is low in casein (another type of protein found in milk) as this is mainly found in the curd.

Whey is considered a high-quality protein because it has a very comprehensive amino acid profile, including sufficient amounts of all the essential human amino acids that the body cannot produce itself and must therefore be obtained from the diet. In addition, whey protein is rich in so-called "branched-chain" amino acids, BCAAs for short, (L-isoleucine, L-leucine, L-valine). This is beneficial because the human body primarily uses these "branched-chain" amino acids found in protein for muscle growth, recovery, and maintenance.

The importance of proteins
Dietary proteins (and proteins produced by the body itself) have many functions. Among other things, proteins play an important role in the formation of muscle tissue. Muscles are formed in the body from (essential) amino acids under the influence of hormones and specific signaling substances. Under certain circumstances, however, the muscle tissue can also be converted for other processes in the body (e.g. energy supply). This happens, for example, with intensive and long-lasting physical activity.

In order to maintain healthy muscle mass, it is important that enough new muscle tissue is formed to offset the conversion of muscle tissue for other purposes. The older people get, the more difficult this becomes. Also, more protein is needed to stimulate the body to form muscle tissue than it is when you are younger. In addition to a sufficient intake of protein, sufficient exercise is of course also very important. An optimal muscle build-up only takes place if the muscles are actually used. Another function of proteins is the contribution to bone formation. The bones themselves are mostly made of protein. In addition, protein intake promotes the production of IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1), an endogenous substance which, among other things, plays an important role in bone metabolism. In this way, a sufficient intake of protein contributes to the maintenance of strong bones.

For whom?
Whey Protein Organic is suitable for daily use by anyone looking to add extra protein to their diet such as: B. older people, athletes, people who are on a slimming diet and people who do a lot of physical activity at work. Whey Protein Organic has a pleasant taste and is free from added sugars and synthetic aromas, colors and flavors (including sweeteners such as aspartame or acesulfame-K, which are often found in protein powders). Whey protein organic can, for example, be taken with organic milk, added to a smoothie or added to breakfast (e.g. oatmeal or quark). If the product is taken with milk, it is advisable to use a shake cup to mix the powder well.

Organic
The active ingredients in organic food supplements are guaranteed to be of natural origin and not synthetically manufactured. In addition, the production takes as much consideration as possible for people, animals and the environment. A large number of regulations define what is meant by this. Among other things, no chemical pesticides, artificial fertilizers or genetically modified organisms are used. The Dutch institute Skal Biocontrole checks whether the regulations are being followed and whether a product can be called organic. Organic products can be recognized by the code NL-BIO-01 and the European organic seal.
