L-methyl folate is a natural and biologically active source of folic acid. Folic acid has many different functions. There is an increased need, especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding. An adequate intake is necessary during this period because folic acid is part of the cell division and development of the fetus. 400 mcg folic acid over a period of at least one month before and up to three months after conception is recommended ● Folate also contributes to the normal function of the immune system ● Folate is necessary for normal homocysteine metabolism ● Participates in amino acid synthesis ● Participates in blood formation and has a function in cell division ● Contributes to normal psychological function and reduction of tiredness. |
