Like vitamins A, D and K, vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin. It is used in the fat metabolism and can best be absorbed by the body in connection with fats. The best known of the many forms is the so-called D-alpha tocopherol - this form of vitamin E has the best bioavailability.

Besides vitamins A & C, it is also one of the most important antioxidants.

Natural sources that have a high vitamin E content are, for example, vegetable oils (sunflower oil, corn germ oil, rapeseed oil or soybean oil), wheat germ or hazelnuts. Fish and meat, on the other hand, contain less.

Vitamin E is particularly sensitive to light and heat - therefore, vegetable oils should ideally be stored in the dark.
